The McCusker Scholarship was started after Bernard H. McCusker, the first president of CSEA, passed away suddenly. A scholarship fund was started to help provide for his daughter’s education and has continued to provide scholarships to the children and grandchildren and dependents of CSEA members for over 70 years.

Our Bernard H. McCusker Memorial Scholarships for 2019 are awarded to qualifying members’ children, grandchildren, and dependents who completed and submitted
applications to our CSEA SEIU Local 2001 Union Hall by the end of April.

The Bernard H. McCusker Memorial Scholarship fund is managed by the Connecticut State Employees Association CSEA-SEIU2001). The $1000 scholarships are distributed on the basis of need, as determined by an application review panel consisting of non-CSEA volunteers. The funds from the scholarships are raised through individual contributions, group contributions, union working groups (boards, bargaining units, chapters...), and fundraising events. This GoFundMe campaign is a new fundraising event and we hope it provides a convenient method to reach new and existing donors.
