Zoe's Battle Against Leukemia

On Sunday, November 18th, Maici and Jason Lefebvre were given the kind of news that no parent ever wants to hear... your child has cancer.

Zoe had been complaining over the last 6 months about body pain and Maici and Jason thought it was a simple wheat intolerance,  they reintroduced wheat two weeks ago and then on Saturday, November 17th,  Zoe had a very bad tummy ache and was up all night.
Maici took her daughter Zoe (age 2) to the Red Deer Hospital Emergency Department in the early morning of November 18th, 2018 for what they thought at the time was a simple tummy ache, the hospital did blood labs and they showed abnormal cells, low platelets, and a low red blood cell count, they were then told by doctors the words no parent ever wants to hear, their sweet daughter Zoe was diagnosed with the possibility of Leukemia. 

After multiple tests and x-rays, little Zoe was then put into an ambulance and taken to the Children's Stollery Hospital in Edmonton to undergo further testing.

On Tuesday, November 20th, Zoe had a bone marrow sample taken. The tests then confirmed what Mom Maici, Dad Jason, and the entire family had been fearing, Zoe was officially diagnosed. Zoe has early Leukemia with 30-40% in her bone marrow. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow. She is receiving an IVAD implant to make Chemotherapy treatments and further blood tests and medication administration easier. 

Maici and Jason had to leave their home, work, and sadly leave their other children, 2 young boys Fenix (4) and Bohdi (1), behind in the care of family members so that they could be by Zoe's side. Zoe will remain in the Edmonton Children's Stollery Hospital for a minimum of 10 days, to start the long journey of treatments to try and beat this terrible disease. 




This Go Fund Me has been created to help Zoe's family reduce the great financial costs associated with fighting Leukemia.
Any and all donations will be used to help this family as they try and stay afloat during this difficult time. Any amount you are able to contribute will help alleviate this family of some stress. 

Donations will be used to help pay for some of the following costs:
-Provide basic needs for Maici and Jason to be able to stay in Edmonton during the duration of Zoe's hospital stay
-Kennel Costs for the family pets
- Household and Morgage Bills as both parents have taken time off work to be by Zoe's side
-Travel costs to go back and forth from their home in Blackfalds to Edmonton after Zoe is discharged for the long follow up care appointments to come
-Maici and Jasons time taken off work to be by Zoe's side
