Crystal's Wish for Robert

Sharing a recent note from Robert to all of you. Thank you for your kind and generous hearts during this difficult time.

"Good evening family and friends. This message is a message of assurance. To assure everyone that I am here. That I am present. To update you. This is also to thank everyone for their support and helpfulness during this process and for their help in securing my wellbeing. This journey and experience has been the most difficult I’ve ever experienced in life and it is one that I would be scared to travel alone. Fortunately I do not have to do quite that. I have many friends and family that have offered shoulders to lean on and I do not know where I would be without them. To you I am eternally grateful, and my love for you all is unmatched. This transition along with college is one that won’t be easy but it is one that I am working to make easy myself, at my own pace. Day by day. I miss her everyday and being home isn’t making the recovery process any easier, but it is a challenge that I have to face to further my success for my and her sake. Otherwise all of her hard work would be in vain. I’ve had to learn and grow up exponentially over the past few months. Even after passing she is teaching me more and more about myself and the world everyday and for that, it is bittersweet to know the person she is lives in through me as I have been told. It’s still surreal. But reality is catching up with me, taking the inner child I once was and causing him to evaporate slowly into my subconscious , it’s something sad and cruel to watch but it’s something that must happen, something that will make me a stronger more independent individual. Until this process has run its course though, I’ve been told to relax. To breath and not do the heavy lifting just yet , but to be prepared to. And the burdens of heartache have been temporarily detached from my being as my loved ones and you all have taken up the reigns with your messages , your donations , and your well wishes. Without those , as stated previously, I’m not too sure where I would be anymore. Probably in a dark place I’d rather not think about. So thank you again. It is more helpful than you could ever possibly even fathom. This is a message of assurance, not that I’m okay. But I will be. I just need some time ❤️. I love you all, and I promise to keep this in a positive place , hope you all do the same."

On March 9th, we lost a daughter, sister, aunt, fiancé, friend, co-worker, and most importantly - a mother of an only child in his freshman year of college. When Crystal Hines didn't show up for work on March 4th, her friends requested a wellness check, where paramedics found her unconscious in her Washington, DC condo. We learned shortly after that Crystal experienced a rare and fatal brain aneurysm at the young age of 47.

Crystal was an amazing mother - steadfast in her commitment to raising a generous, kind, and ambitious young man who started school at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in the fall of 2018. She loved spending time with her son, her fiancé, her family and friends, traveling, and listening to music. She was deeply compassionate and selfless - ensuring that even in the end, her organs were transferred to eight different human beings on the east coast - granting both life and love to other families.

As those closest to her work to heal through this tragedy, we kindly ask that you consider donating to this campaign for her son Robert Hampton III - in honor of Crystal, which will be used entirely to pay for Robert's college education. No child should ever face the tragic loss of their mother at 18 years old; however, when fate chooses a different path, let us offer our hearts and charity to help him handle this unexpected burden with ease.

The campaign goal of $250,000 is based on real calculations for Robert's education and housing, and the funds go directly to Sundiata Alaye who established a joint account with Robert and his grandmother to manage these expenses. Please consider making a donation and sharing Crystal's campaign with your network. Trust that no donation is too small.
