Support Living Artist CricketDiane

$4,000 goal

Cricket Diane C Phillips  STATEN ISLAND, NY
We had a fire Aug. 18

We have been displaced since the fire.

I’ve been renting a neighbor’s living room floor.

Kept trying to get a place to rent with my voucher.

Wasn’t working.

Thought it would be simpler to ask the public.

Thinking that if I had $40 each from 1,000 people, I could rent a place to live and support myself for a year, help my daughter and granddaughter with a place to live as well as be part of the community and do positive things for Staten Island, Staten Island North Shore, Jersey Street & St. George in Staten Island and NYC.

The news is -

That nobody that I know in St. George, Staten Island, around Jersey Street, and in NYC generally have thought there was any way to get $40 from 1,000 people online or in NYC

- not to be a patron of my art, not to support my efforts to get an apartment and support myself, not to support my small business being funded toward being more viable at CricketDiane and Cricket House Studios and not simply because people in NYC and Staten Island believe it is important to have creative, positive people in their communities.

In fact, surprisingly -

For a capitalist nation -

Not one person I’ve shared my idea with - believed it possible, sensible, solution-oriented thinking.

Not one person believed it viable or an appropriate use of my time and efforts nor that there was any way it could work.

Not one person believed any of my skills, talents, knowledge, experience or previous efforts building an online store, doing art, having an art studio, playing music, making videos, inventing, creating solutions for the community, helping other businesses succeed, writing blogs, researching, inspiring others and creating positive innovative solutions - justified anyone considering supporting my efforts.

Now that is just bizarre.

**

So, I'm asking for your help - because alone I'm not able to make any of this work to rebuild my studio, my business and my life along with making a home for myself, my daughter and granddaughter who were displaced by the fire in Aug that took it all from us.

I'm asking for you to make a real difference -

If I've ever mentored you,
if I've ever helped you through something,
if you've ever learned something from me,
if you've ever been inspired by me,
if you've ever been grateful because of me,
if you've ever gotten through something difficult because of me,
if you've ever believed that art, inventing, innovation and creating solution oriented thinking in our communities is important,
if you've ever wanted to help in a way that would really matter.

Please help me raise the money needed for me to simply rent a place to live, rebuild my studio and continue to build my online business such that it could support me, my family and our community for years to come.

I'm putting a $4,000 goal on this crowdfunding campaign, but the real costs would be -

$1560 Transportation
$480 Phones
$1140 Internet and Online Services
$360 Google Ad Words
$3600 Food (for three of us)
$10,800 Rent (at $1800 p-er month in Staten Island)
$3700 Utilities - Gas and Electric
$5400 First & Last month's rent plus realtor fee to rent
_________

$26,940 to cover the next 6 months of living costs

plus - Art Supplies
Technology (that we lost in the fire)
             Marketing
             Office Tools
             Office Space / Studio

My idea here is to ask for $40 each from a 1,000 people, $1,000 each from 40 people - but if I can get $4,000 from this crowdfunding campaign, at least it is a start toward simply having a place to live and getting out of the dire situation where I am now paying to stay in an illegal boarding house on the floor of the living room. It is really dangerous where I am now and I've found an apartment nearby but cannot get it without money to pay for it and the voucher I have will not help me get it now because it is encumbered by a bureaucratic snafu preventing me from renting it.

I've gone as far as I can alone. The fire was forever ago, but without your help, the art, writing, inventing, research, learning, sharing, teaching, helping, solutions, innovating, inspiring, helpfulness and resourcefulness I could share with others along with my skill sets will not be available to anyone. At the place where I've been staying, these are not valued and have been hindered from effectively using my skills to any good purpose in each and every way possible - I cannot focus with people fussing at me day and night, keeping me awake with little sleep most days, demeaning and berating me for every way I do things and threatening violence against me, putting my few belongings outside the door or damaging them, and causing mental turmoil for me constantly.

There was a crowdfunding campaign for my daughters and grandchildren affected by the fire - but not for me, for my work, for my studio or my business. I've made all the efforts I can by myself and have managed to come this far - but now I'm asking that you help.

If you've found this and do not know me, please find my artwork and business efforts at CricketDiane - on zazzle, on wordpress, on twitter, pinterest, polyvore, youtube, facebook and others.

I'm currently staying at 181 Benziger Ave. The fire happened in August 2016 at 226 Benziger Ave, Staten Island. There are videos and news stories about it because it was a 6-alarm fire started next door to our house by the neighbor's children playing with matches and lighter fluid. It took several houses and displaced our family since then.

In some of the news pictures from the fire, I am the grandmother sitting on the sidewalk holding two of my grandchildren and one of our cats. We lost our cat Batman shortly after the fire because he was so badly burned. We were never allowed to go back into our home and get anything. It was all gone.

Please consider helping if you can believe that my work and being a part of the community has value. I've always helped others in every day and in every way that my skills offer. Please help me now - $40 would go a long ways toward my goal to support myself for this year and to continue doing the things I can do for those around me and my new community of Staten Island and NYC.

Or at the very least, so that I'm not a burden and part of the problem being homeless and lost among the mentally distraught of America - and can instead be an asset in the community.

Thank you,
