Creating Memories for Marty

This story is about our dear friends Marty and Salome.

Marty moved to Mount Beauty, Victoria in 2004 to work at Bogong Village as a Maintenance/Groundskeeper, he still works there today.

Marty met Salome the love of his life in 2010 and her beautiful daughter, Jacara.  Salome and Marty have made a wonderful life for themselves in the Valley.

Marty has an extended family; The Mount Beauty Cricket Club.  This club has been a huge part of Marty's life since 2005.  Marty wearing any shirt other than his cricket shirt........um no!!!!!

In 2014 Nate came along, a little Marty through and through.  Their family now complete.  Unfortunately this giving family have had several hurdles along the way.

In 2016 Salome and Nate were involved in a car accident leaving Salome with permanent injuries and unable to work for a period of time.  During this time Nate was also diagnosed with Autism.  In 2017 Marty was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, which had already spread to his bones and lymph nodes.  Over the last 6 months Marty has been having chemotherapy.

Between medical costs and travel costs associated with what has happened over the last few years, there have been very little funds left for anything else.  This family is so giving onto others and it would be so nice to do the same for them.

This year is their year!!!!!!!!  December will see a beautiful wedding for these two beautiful people, Marty and Salome.  Marty would love to go Shark diving at Port Lincoln, South Australia and they would love to go on a family holiday by the beach.

Creating memories with our loved ones is what counts.  If you feel you are able to help contribute to help Marty, Salome, Jacara and Nate achieve some of these your contribution would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards Marty and Salome's Go Fund Me. They have finally tied the knot and what a beautiful day it was.

They will be off on a holiday to Surfers Paradise with Jacarra and Nate at the start of February. Eagles concert in March and shark dive in April.

Their graditude to you is enormous and over whelming. Their thankfulness for the memories you have helped make will be in their hearts forever.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Alexander

Updates from Marty and Salome
On behalf of me and my family, I would like to take this opportunity to say very heartfelt thank you to everyone for this gift and your thoughts and prayers. In particular to Tom and Izzy who went beyond, by setting this in motion.
None of us are super human and we all have an expiry date at some stage. So to have this opportunity to make some fantastic memories with our family holiday is all thanks to your generosity. Words aren’t enough to express my gratitude to everyone individually.
It makes me feel very humble and a bit overwhelmed by all of this but I guess what goes around comes around. When things happen in your life you wonder why us, but if you have faith, everything that is thrown at you can be overcome. I’m sure there are more ups and downs ahead, but there will be more ups then downs. We have an exciting end of the year to look forward to when we tie the knot.
So to everyone once again, thank you for everything. This will mean the world to us and no matter what happens in our lives, we know how much people care and I will continue to fight as hard as I can to watch my family grow.
Marty
To Everyone
It rarely happens, but I’m sitting here finding it hard to find words. Sometimes we feel like we hit every bump in the road in this journey through life. We are learning to stop those thoughts – slap ourselves as say “as it was”!
Thanks Tommy for the initial thought of wanting to help and Izzy for putting it into place. We have been overwhelmingly flooded by all your ‘Genuine Care’. Wanting to be there for us, your thoughts, love. Prayers and generosity.
It’s actually hard to accept, knowing we could never give back the same. You’re going to make so many happy times and laughter – for Marty and his crazy desire to swim with white pointers. Most of all this will give our family awesome memories. It doesn’t feel like enough but all we can say is THANKS!
In a separate bank account the money will sit, it will wait until the right time and nice weather. When it all happens, we will keep you posted with photos of some of the lifetime of memories you have helped make and given to us.
