Fund Beadology Iowa Sign

This sign will help Beadology Iowa celebrate our 30th Anniversary of being a full service community bead store in downtown Iowa City. It will contribute to the overall sense of place in an artful and unique manner. We hope it will become a landmark in our downtown.
This sign is a necklace which has a "phrase" of beads that is repeated 6 times. This sign will be erected in time for the August 11 unveiling of a host of signs in downtown Iowa City that are part of the Co-sign program http://downtowniowacity.com/about-icdd/cosign/ .
We are so excited to erect this sign, yet we can't do it without the help of a larger communty. This piece of artwork will cost $9,200 for all materials, artistic and technical labor, and permits. The Co-sign program is pitching in $1,200, so we are down to needing assistance for up to $8,000 to make this happen in time for the Aug. 11 unveiling. If we can raise a tad more than this amount, we can pay our artists a bonus for their hard work in a short time frame.
The design concept was created by Shannon Heiman. The small beads are 3" copper toilet floats, the disk beads are steel that will be manufactured to our specifications, the large beads will be made by Megan Bishop molded from epoxy. There will be 3 large green beads that will be faceted, transluscent, and iridescent. There will be 3 large beads that are faceted, purple and glittery.
The "string" is 1" steel tubing that will be formed and installed by welder and artist Cara Briggs Farmer.
