Hello, I would like to introduce my daughter to you. If she were able to speak this is what she would say to you.
"Hi! my name is Mariyah and I am 7 1/2 years old. When I was in my mummy’s tummy, I was not growing and so after tests were conducted, the doctors advised my parents to bring me into this world so I can grow. But after six months being in this new world, I was not growing as I should be. I was not able to move my hands, or legs and not able to roll. I could not sit or stand and was not meeting my regular milestones. I used to cry a lot. My mummy and daddy tried everything possible to comfort me, little did they know the reason I was crying was because of my tense little muscles tightening as it was hurting me. I was getting frustrated when I couldn’t reach for toys so I could play with them.
So after my parents started to take me to the pediatrician regularly and asking questions, the pediatrician recommended for me to go and see a Neurologist where they found out I have what the doctors called Cerebral Palsy, Microcephaly, Hypertonia, Dystonia and Quadriplegic. Wow those are some big words for me!
Now, I am almost 8 years old, I am a happy jolly little girl, I like to listen to story books, play with girly toys, watch TV and also like to have friends but don’t have much of them as of yet. During the week, I have a very busy schedule, I go to physical, aquatic, occupational, speech therapies and go to school. I need lots of therapies to make my muscles strong because my trunk, hands and legs are very weak.
My parents came across an intensive therapy program which will help me strengthen my muscles so I can support my head better and make my legs stronger so I could walk and hands stronger so I can hold things better. These intensive therapies are very expensive and it is recommended I should have multiple sessions per year.
If you all can help my parents raise the money to help me get better, I would greatly appreciate it. Anything you can give will go along way.
