2016 CPS Scholarship Campaign

$955 of $4,000 goal

Raised by 9 people in 28 months

Since 2010, the Cameroon Professional Society (CPS) has awarded  14 scholarships to Cameroonians students. These awards are determined on a competitive basis and require the submission of a personal statement and essay from the applicant and is open to all Cameroonian students studying in the USA (including international students) as well as students in Cameroon.

Students in the USA receive $500 each while students in Cameroon receive $200 each.

Scholars accepted into the program are provided with the mentorship and nurturing that is required to excel in college and beyond and mission of the CPS Scholars Program is to nurture a new generation of Cameroonian leaders .

In 2015, we issued 6 scholarships and you can read more about the recipeints at 2015 CPS Scholars

Our goal for 2016 is offer at least 10 schalarships in Cameroon and at least 2 scholarships in the USA.

The CPS Scholars we identify are the brightest students and most attimes they lack the means and motivation to pursue a first degree. The few students who have received the scholarship have expressed gratitude, especially since this is given on merit; and not based on ethnic, linguistic or other non-competitive considerations.

We receive completed applications and requested documents via email and the final deadline to be considered for the 2016 CPS Scholars Program is May 28, 2016.

Finalists will be notified by July 15, 2016 and will be invited to participate in a telephone interview.

Winners of the scholarship will be notified by August 1st, 2016 and their names will be published on the CPS website.

It is such a wonderful thing to be supporting students solely based on their merit and not because I am related to them or whether they come from the same place like me. Good luck to the 2016 CPS scholars.

In the small tiny village where I am coming from, there is an old saying: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." I think providing a relevant education - that bridges the gap between school and work - means students leave school ready to get the right job or set up their own business, and reach their full potential in life.
