Help change lives and heal pasts

$200 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 7 people in 15 months
I started this program to help those who are marked by scars of all types, whether the scar was created by self harm, surgery or by some sort of accident.
My intentions were to cover one scar per week at no charge to the client. However, the response that I received from the post about the program has been overwhelming, mostly from young women who have struggled with self harm.
Reading the stories of their struggles and seeing the responses of those who believe this program to be an amazing thing has touched my heart. I had no idea that self harm was such a huge issue amongst are young people. I know that I cannot eradicate the problem, but with some help I can dedicate my time to helping the victims of self harm and those who wear the mark of any tragic event to move forward and to remove the negative stigma of their past with my artwork.
No person deserves to be haunted by their scars! I hope to be able to cover their physical scars and hopefully help to heal some of their emotional ones as well.
With your help, I will cover as many scars as I can. If I can't schedule all of them, I will bring in other artists to help carry the load.
If you have a scar, any scar caused by any reason, whether it was self harm, cancer, dog bite, car accident, motorcycle accident; or if you know someone who bears such a scar, please contact me. I will respond to everyone as quickly as possible and I will schedule as many cover ups as time and funds allow.
I will also take into consideration covering tattoos that came from bad lifestyle choices, such as: gang affiliations, racism, drug use, etc..
I have set up a Go Fund Me account to attempt to finance this program. Though, you need not feel obligated to donate. I will continue with the one free tattoo per week even if I receive no donations, but donations will help me to help more people.
If you can't donate at least share this page, help me to make this go viral, help me to help as many of our people as we can.
If you have a story about your scar or scars that you wish to share, please post it on the page. If you want the story to be shared but want it to remain anonymous, message me the story and I will post it on the page and make sure you remain anonymous.
Thanks for your help and support.

Self Harm

Self injury statistics show that this disturbing phenomenon is a real and present danger to vulnerable people worldwide, especially in developed countries, such as the U.S. and those in western Europe. Frequently, untreated depression and other mental health challenges create an environment of despair that leads people to cope with these challenges in unhealthy ways.

Cancer Scars

Thirteen percent of cancer survivors quit work for cancer-related reasons, and of those, patients with head and neck cancer have the highest risk for going on medical disability because of the psychosocial burden of dysfunction and disfigurement,” Sobanko said. “What we’re learning now is that these scars are much more than skin deep, and given these possible repercussions, it’s vital that surgeons be able to provide patients with advanced treatment options to limit and avoid visible scarring.

Exquisite Tattoo Studio of Yale Michigan has agreed to perform one scar cover up per week at no charge to the client, but will do as many as we can raise the funds for.

Help us to cover a scar and help to heal a past.

Hello, my name is annette. I saw your post about the scar cover up tattoos! Here is my story and yes you have permission to share.

It started at about 15 years old, I was diagnosed with 2Bipolar disorder and a severe anxiety disorder at 14. Simultaneously, I developed a pretty bad drug addiction... to almost everything. starting with weed, slowly pills (like xanax, adderal),then alcohol. slowly but surely meth became my drug of choice at only 16, then coke and lastly, heroin. It's been a very long rollercoaster ride of rehabs and hospitals, counseling, overdoses, and suicide attempts. most recently was January 1st,  I ODed on what I thought was coke and ended up to be heroin laced with fentanyl. A close friend died along side me that night and I made it out alive. I did continue to use crazy enough, until I had to walk through the funeral home with a swallowing guilt I could no longer morally endure.that day I promised I would not touch my evils again. The scars remind me of this life long battle, the self harm was always there when the drugs weren't. There always had to be an outlet.. Slowly I am learning myself and how to cope with the life I've been blessed with. Today I am 6 months sober and have not self harmed in many months. My goal is not to gather pity but show the world you CAN dig yourself out of your grave. It takes a hell of a lot of fight, courage, control, but most importantly a love for life. I'm not too sure what I would cover them with quite yet.. but I know I'd love it to be something relating to a love for life and or sobriety. Thanks for reading.
