A little bit of background information about Jaydens condition: Congenital Myasthenia: Congenital myasthenic syndrome is a group of conditions characterized by muscle weakness (myasthenia) that worsens with physical exertion. It is a lifelong condition that will not go away. In some ways it is similar to Myasthenia gravis, however myasthenia gravis is an auto- immune condition, congenital myasthenia is a genetic condition. Eventho the symptoms might be similar, causes and treatments of both conditions are different. There are treatments to help alleviate the symptoms of CMS but there is no cure. CMS is also classified as one of 60 Muscular Dystrophies. The muscle weakness typically begins in early childhood but can also appear in adolescence or adulthood. Facial muscles, including muscles that control the eyelids (ptosis) muscles that move the eyes, and muscles used for chewing and swallowing, are most commonly affected. However, any of the muscles used for movement (skeletal muscles) can be affected in this condition. Due to muscle weakness, affected infants may have feeding difficulties. Development of motor skills such as crawling or walking may be delayed. The severity of the myasthenia varies greatly, with some people experiencing minor weakness and others having such severe weakness that they are unable to walk. Some individuals have episodes of breathing problems that may be triggered by fevers or infection. Severely affected individuals may also experience short pauses in breathing (apnea) that can lead to a bluish appearance of the skin or lips (cyanosis). There are lots of different types of congenital myasthenia depending wich genes are affected. Also every individual is different wether they have the same gene affected. Jayden has congenital myasthenia DOK 7. Jayden has touched so many people by telling his story with his facebookpage Courgeous mighty strong JJ.  Jayden would love to bring more awareness for CMS and help other little ones like him. He currently is working hard on writing a childrensbook about CMS, highlighting the condition and the importance of inclusion of any child that is a bit different then others but just as much in need of love, friendship and belonging. We would also like to help Jayden in his journey with CMS and one big help would be obtaining his very own assistance dog, a dog that would be trained specifically to Jaydens needs. The puppy would be trained to assist Jayden in daily tasks he finds difficult like opening doors, preventing him from falling when his legs get weak, reminding him to take his meds, helping him to get clothes off and even helping him to get back on his feet after a fall. The dog would also be thought to alert someone when Jayden is in distress or needs help. We never thought we would find ourselfes  in a position reaching out for help and our family is working very hard to assist Jayden as much as we can but realising how much Jayden would benefit from this, we decided to reach out in the hope we can make this happen for him. The funds received through this page would directly assist  us in getting the right puppy and training for the pup to become a fully certified assistance dog tuned in to Jaydens needs. After doing regular puppyclasses for the first 5months, a special trainer will come in weekly to do this training and this will probably take 18 months up to 2 years. Jayden already has a name in mind for his special pup and his eyes sparkle everytime he thinks about the many adventures they will have together. We would also love to use some of the funds to help Jayden achieve writing his childrensbook. Thank you so much to all the lovely people following, liking his page. Her specialised training will start when she is 5 months old.  Een beetje achtergrond informatie over Jayden zn aandoening: Congenitale myasthenie: Congenitale myasthenie is een zeer zeldzame, aangeboren zwakte van de spieren. De zwakte ontstaat doordat prikkels van de zenuw niet goed doorgegeven worden aan de spier. De ziekte lijkt op een andere spierziekte: myasthenia gravis (MG). Congenitale myasthenie uit zich meestal snel na de geboorte of op jonge kinderleeftijd (congenitaal = aangeboren). Congenitale myasthenie is een erfelijke ziekte. Er zit een fout in een gen waardoor iets misgaat bij de prikkeloverdracht van de zenuw naar de spier. De verschijnselen hangen vaak samen met welk gen de oorzaak is van de congenitale myasthenie. Jayden heeft congenitale myasthenie DOK 7. Soms is bij congenitale myasthenie al vóór de geboorte merkbaar dat er opvallend weinig bewegingen van het ongeboren kind zijn. De moeder voelt het kind niet of nauwelijks bewegen in de baarmoeder. Verder kunnen de volgende klachten en verschijnselen optreden bij kinderen met deze aandoening: vertraagde ontwikkeling, wat zich uit in laat met omrollen, laat met gaan kruipen, laat met gaan zitten, laat met gaan staan, en laat met gaan lopen minder kracht naarmate de spieren langer worden gebruikt slap kind (spierhypotonie),moeite met traplopen, verminderde inspanningstolerantie,, moeite met fietsen, moeheid, onduidelijk praten, slecht zuigen aan de borst afhangende bovenoogleden, moeite met slikken , moeite met schrijven, moeite met tekenen, moeite met het bewegen van de ogen, moeite met kauwen, zacht huilen, dubbel zien,  moeite met ademen, vastzittende gewrichten, verminderde beweeglijkheid van de gewrichten, zijwaartse kromming van de rug, minder kracht van de aangezichtsspieren , kortademigheid,  kwijlen, apart gezicht De klachten nemen vaak toe bij ziekte (koorts), moeheid en lichamelijke inspanning. Deze aandoening is levenslang. Er zijn medicijnen die de synptomen helpen verlichten maar is geen genezing mogelijk. Er is nood aan meer onderzoek om een kuur te vinden en ook om meer bekendheid te geven aan deze aandoening. Een diagnose voor deze aandoening is heel moeilijk te krijgen en heel complex. De onzekerheid is voor ouders en de familie van een kindje met spierzwakte enorm moeilijk.  We willen Jayden graag helpen in zn strijd tegen CMS door het aankopen en trainen van een speciale hulphond. Deze hond zal Jayden helpen in verschillende taken die hij zelf ontzettend moeilijk vind door zn spierziekte; openen van deuren, uittrekken van kledij, Jayden beschermen tegen lelijke valpartijen als zn benen zwakker worden, Jayden helpen terug recht te komen na een val, Jayden herrineren aan het nemen van zn medicatie, ons verwittigen wanneer Jayden in nood is of hulp nodig heeft, enz… We hadden nooit gedacht dat we op deze manier hulp zouden moeten vragen, maar een speciale hulphond kost enorm veel geld net door de vele specifieke opleidingsuren en intensieve training afgestemd op Jayden zn ziekte. Deze speciale puppy zal na het volgen van gewone puppylessen starten met wekelijkse training door een speciale trainer om dan na 18-24 maand volledig klaargestroomd te zijn als hulphond. Jayden heft nu al een naam voor zn pup en zn oogjes blinken telkens hij erover praat. ONZE LINA werd deel van ons gezinnetje en is nu 3 maand oud! Jayden en Lina zijn nu al de beste vriendjes! Haar specialeopleiding start als ze 5 maand oud is. We zouden ook graag een deel van de centjes gebruiken in het helpen realiseren van zn kinderboek.
