Carrie and Mike - “the love of her life”.

Now Mike’s life is threatened.

Carrie’s Story

Hi, I want to tell you a love story, a story about my dear friend, Carrie.

Divorced at an early age with three young daughters, Carrie was determined to make sure her girls grew up with her unwavering support and with all the values of a God loving home.

To make sure that happened, Carrie put her own life on hold, concentrating instead on working hard on her home cleaning business, spending quality time with her girls and teaching them how to be the very best they could be. Carrie’s hard work paid off, with her girls excelling in academics, holding down jobs as well as participating in a variety of athletics.

Mike’s Story

Mike has spent his life working in sales, caring for his disabled mother and raising his own three girls whose mother passed away unexpectedly. Mike’s girls happened to be attending Newark Catholic High School with Carrie’s girls, and several of them played volleyball on the same team!

Carrie and Mike’s love story began at one of those volleyball games.

Their Love Story

By this time Carrie’s oldest daughter was about to finish high school, the middle daughter had a year left and her youngest was starting middle school.  Carrie had finally come to a point in her life where she thought....perhaps it was time to start opening her heart and thinking a little about herself.

Over their girls’ high school years, Carrie and Mike’s paths crossed on a regular basis at all those volleyball games. Week after week, season after season, they sat together and cheered their daughters on.  And for quite some time, Mike had secretly admired Carrie. Then, one fateful night in 2016, he finally mustered the courage to ask her out.

You probably think you know the rest of this fairy tale love story. Yes, they dated. Yes, they fell in love (so did all the girls). Yes, Mike romantically proposed (with all six girls secretly there to see). They were married on June 23, 2018, in a beautiful ceremony in a charming little barn on a hill where, during her vows, Carrie described Mike as THE LOVE OF HER LIFE. They honeymooned in Florida. It was a dream come true - right up until the last day of their trip - Sunday, July 1st - when Mike became terribly ill.

The Tragic Diagnosis

They returned home on that Sunday and went to The Ohio State University Hospital on Monday, July 2nd - just 9 days after their wedding.

The diagnosis was devastating: STAGE 4 PANCREATIC CANCER AND SPOTS ON HIS LIVER.

Ever since, Mike has been receiving the most aggressive chemotherapy treatments available all while continuing to work. But as you can imagine, the medical bills have been mounting. They could really use our HELP!

How Can You Help?

As you can imagine, between pathology tests, chemo treatments, doctor’s appointments and unexpected hospital visits, the expenses are quickly mounting.  Other costs include Mike’s monthly medications and numerous out of pocket expenses.  In addition to all these expenses, Mike’s deductible will start over in January.

So you can see why the goal we’re setting is so high. Every donation you make (less the fees charged by GoFundMe) will go toward paying that deductible and toward Mike’s medical expenses.

PLEASE HELP by making a donation - any amount will be welcome and very greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
