Corning Hurricane Relief

Hurricane Florence has significantly impacted numerous Corning Incorporated employees in the Wilmington, North Carolina area as well as the greater Mid Atlantic Region.  Many individuals have expressed a desire to contribute to a program that directly benefits those impacted Corning Employees.  Corning , through the Corning Foundation, is making contributions to charitable relief organizations such as the Red Cross to benefit the impacted communities.  Because the Foundation cannot make contributions directly to Corning employees, we are using this gofundme campaign to allow employee to employee contributions.

The purpose of this campaign will be to provide Corning Incorporated employees affected by Hurricane Florence with the following types of assistance:

- reimbursement or payment for reasonable and necessary personal, family, or living expenses incurred to ensure that employees have necessities, such as food, clothing, housing, transportation and medical care; and
- payment for or reimbursement of reasonable and necessary expenses to repair or rehabilitate a personal residence or its contents

Donated funds will be distributed by the Corning Incorporated Hurricane Relief Committee (the “HRC”). The HRC shall be comprised of the members of the Corning Incorporated Benefits Committee.   

Affected employees interested in obtaining assistance will make a request in a form and by a date determined by the HRC.  The HRC will distribute funds based on the total demonstrated need against the total donations.  Demonstrated need will not include items covered by insurance or otherwise eligible for other reimbursement and will generally include:

- Amounts for necessary personal, family, or living expenses
- Personal necessities (such as food, clothing, housing, transportation and medical care)
- Repair or rehabilitation of a personal residence or its contents

Any funds not distributed to Corning Incorporated Employees by December 15, 2018, will be donated to the American Red Cross.
