Conservation Tales book series
Conservation Tales is a book series for children in grades 3-5. Each book in the series tells the story of a child who wants to know more about an endangered animal he or she sees in her community, and her experiences learning about local scientists who study those animals. The books include actions families can take at home to help wildlife, and learning materials that make the books suitable for a school or after-school group.

The books are produced by a team of faculty and students at Ball State University. The team has started with four volumes produced with help from researchers working in Indiana and Michigan.
But now we are expanding, and working on books about marine species. In 2018, we will produce three more books about manatees, seahorses and sea turtles. We have some terrific scientists partnering on these books, including the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge and Mote Marine Laboratory in Florida.
But the expenses involved in producing the books have grown. We need your help for our team to work with field researchers, develop the books and make them available to the public.
While we have some grant funds from our university and some local supporters, we still need more support. We hope you'll consider donating to help move the project forward.
The copyrights for the books are owned by the Ball State Innovation Corporation, so this is a non-profit venture. Your donations are tax deductible. Proceeds go toward developing and printing the books, creating promotional materials, and developing outreach and engagement activities for kids. The outreach activities will include visits to local schools and nature centers for projects to support literacy, diversity, and environmental education.
