^~^ Hi! My name is Jacqueline Graniel and I am a post-baccalaureate student conducting research at the University of Michigan.
I hope you can help me achieve my goal of raising money to attend the 2014 Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Conference.
SACNAS is a national organization with strong ties to enriching the STEM field on all levels and supporting and recruiting underrepresented minorities in STEM.
SACNAS has been pivotal in my life. It was at the 2011 Conference in San Jose, California (my first SACNAS Conference!) where I first had the opportunity to communicate my science and passion for research. After that time, I became more involved in the local SACNAS chapter at UCLA and had the privilege of being President of the SACNAS at UCLA chapter this last year.
SACNAS is a community where I have embraced my identity as a scientist and I was lucky enough to have gotten my abstract accepted to present at this year's national conference!
I will present my research titled "ndi1 Expression in Intestinal Stem Cells Extends Lifespan in Drosophila Melanogaster." This will in essence be the heart of my hardwork during my three amazing years at UCLA.
The conference will be in Los Angeles, California (woot woot!) from October 16-October 18. I am currently living in Ann Arbor, Michigan and used up all of my money on the move here and so I would appreciate any help you can give.
It would be amazing and the best gift in the world if you all could help me raise the money to pay for a rountrip flight (~$400-450) and the conference registration fees ($315).
