OUR WEBSITE This foundation was founded by Jared Graziano and myself, Ralph Caccavale. Together we want to make a difference in the world. Growing up, our lives have revolved around sports. In order to be great at something, it's important to have a mentor to get you where you want to be. For us, it was our fathers. Everything we do here at C4C is in their names.
During my junior season, my father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and colon cancer. During Jared's senior season, his father was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. For my fellow student-athletes, you all understand the grind and work that has to be put in on the field and in the classroom. Being a collegiate athlete is a life changing commitment. For us, we had to compete and study with the thoughts of knowing our families are home fighting against a losing battle. The thought of not being there for your family takes a toll on your emotions and focus every second of every day.
One day last year, Jared and I are at practice and he pitched the idea to me. Today, we stand as a NON-profit organization and prove how money can be raised rapidly to benefit the lives of others. Together our mission is to make a difference and bring optimism and hope into families all over the country.
Compete4Cancer 501(c)(3) is the name of our foundation. This organization will do everything in its power to help battle cancer. We focus on collegiate athletes and Greek life students. Greek life is involved with fraternities and sororities. We will hold events such as, battle of the frats or battle of the sororities, sport tournaments, 5K runs and more to help raise money against cancer. Money raised at such venues goes back as grants and scholarships to the participating school. College students can come together, compete in various competitions against eachother with good fun for a better cause.
Outside of Greek life, we meet with athletic directors all over the country of various colleges and universities to gain their institutons support to help aid the fight against cancer. The money we make from donations, fundraising, and events will be given as grants and scholarships to collegiate athletes with an intermediate family member diagnosed with or passed away from cancer. Not only will we be aiding institutions, but we will hold these said events and donate to cancer foundations all over the country. For example, we will donate to Make-a-Wish foundation, St. Jude Hospital, Red Cross, Coaches versus Cancer etc.
We will hold events for each school varying on the sport. This baseball season, we have a month dedicated as K's for Cancer. For example, Felician baseball will donate a dollar to a foundation of their choice through our funds for every strikeout they record. The prices and event names will vary depending on the sport.
What do we need the money for?
In order to build up a nationwide organization from the ground up, a lot needs to taken into account. The number one idea of marketing is a website. A website is the number one form of marketing an organization. This will help show everyone who we are, what it is we do, how we do it, and why were doing it. Next, we need to pay for certain venues to brand our foundation. For example, rental fees, golf/bowling outings, or restaurants. Aside from all those expenses, we will be using more money for our merchandise. Our logo is used on clothes, towels, flags and more. Any other money raised that we have left over will be given out to foundations in full. We are not taking a dollar for ourselves through this go fund me.
We need you all. Compete4Cancer is different than the rest. We will all compete against cancer; but we cannot do it alone. The world can seem like a tough place to live sometimes. Some people will show no love to each other. And it might seem unfair that lives are taken too soon. But together, we can make the world a happier and healthier place.
