A New Companion McDowell Gravestone

Donation protected
Will you please join with the descendants of Samuel and Mary McDowell, and help provide a new Companion Gravestone for their Patriot ancestors?
After 200 years of exposure to the elements, Mary's stone has crumbled and become illegible and Samuel's stone is now wholly delapadated and barely readable.

Col./Judge Samuel McDowell was a veteran of three wars (Braddock's Defeat, Point Pleasant and the Revolutionary War) in which he fought with distinction.

He was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses and the Virginia Colonial Conventions at the time when Virginia determined to split with Great Britiain. He was one of the first Federal Judges in Kentucky; founder of the Danville Political Club and President of 10 of the 11 Kentucky Statehood Conventions.  It was Samuel who sent the letter to the US Congress requesting Kentucky Statehood.

Samuel was also a founder of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, Transylvania Seminary (now University), in Lexington, KY, and Centre Colllege, in Danville, KY.

Please join with us financially and help provide a new gravestone for this well deserving, great American patriot and his wife!

Dontations are needed by July 15, 2017, so that the new stone can be placed in time for the September 23, 2017 grave rededication to be held in Bellevue Cemetery, Danville, Kentucky.
