Help us Fund the Self Expression Academy!
This crowd-source campaign is an effort to generate adequate funding for a unique community arts school, providing a comprehensive curriculum that teaches the performance art of the DJ to youth and. The program gives adolescents and young adults a creative space and outlet for their musical creativity to come to life.
The Self Expression Academy (S.E.A) located in Somerville, Massachusetts, is currently housed in a customized storefront, retail space that is ideally set up for this type of program. The “SEA” also has some of the technical equipment needed to provide students with an exciting, professional and hands-on training. But, we need more to offer a full-on and professional training experience for students.
We are requesting support for the purchase of technical equipment needed for a robust program; including midi controllers, turntables, and beat machines.
About DJ Fadayz, the Founder of the Self Expression Academy:
Fadayz is an accomplished street dancer, DJ and motivational speaker. His DJ experience reaches back over 20 years, and his unique talents are sought after all over New England for private events, weddings, school performances and club events. Fadayz is a self-taught virtuoso with streetwise upbringing, where he learned to thrive in the face of the harsh realities of a tough childhood. Fadayz is an innovator, who uses the creative modalities of music, technology and dance, to not only embody his own creative self-expression, but to realize his dream of sharing his gifts with others, particularly youth who have no place to go, who have not found their niche’, or who need an outlet for their creative and emotional impulses, like he did. Fadayz’s early success with street dance, particularly popping, provided him with a path connecting him to a community. He dreams of paying it forward by helping, disadvantaged youth find the outlets of music, DJ-ing and dance, to carry them forward toward better outcomes in their lives.
“Each one teach one” is one of our driving principles at the Self Expression Academy. To that end, as the students progress, they will graduate toward helping teach newer students with proficiency, in the Art of the DJ and music production.
