Community Love for Jodell & Hector

Donation protected

In every community, there are people who always are the first to show up when a need arises. Those who are always at your door with a meal, or donating their time and efforts to efforts that make a community stronger. In our community, those people are Jodell and Hector Hinojosa. They are owners of Foody Blues catering and incredibly active members of Vancouver. Every month for the last six years, they have host a free meal for unhomed people called the Stone Soup Community Meal. This event encourages people to sit and share food and conversation with the less fortunate in our community. They do this out of the love in their hearts for humanity, and ask for no financial compensation. Additionally, they are both associated with many local organizations such as Slow Food, LULAC, Leadership Clark County, Columbia River Mental Health, the Vancouver Farmer's Market, and more. Pretty much every major community effort has benefited from Jodell and Hector's volunteer efforts.

Recently, Jodell had some health issues that ultimately led to a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. A five-pound tumor was wreaking havoc on her body. Thankfully, her tumor removal surgery went well and she is currently undergoing a series of chemotherapy sessions. Her prognosis looks positive! However, their family is facing a series of financial issues. Since Jodell and Hector own a catering business, their finances are less than traditional. Jodell is unable to work in the same capacity as she was able previous to her cancer treatments and Hector is working double time to keep financial stability for their home. Insurance copays and treatment costs are also taking an enormous toll on their budget. This is where our community can return the favors that Jodell and Hector have continually bestowed on the people for whom they love and care.

All donations will go directly to the Hinojosas so they can get through this difficult time, and any amount of money will help Jodell and Hector immensely. During health crises, the last thing people want to worry about is finances. Your donations will help their family and business retain stability until Jodell is back to 100%.
