The Community Kicks Tournament is Making Moves for Unity!

Community Kicks is a one day event hosted by Drop In Sports in partnership with The Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO), and OSEG on July 29th at TD Place.

This is a no-skills required, recreational soccer tournament for adults 15 and up. Our goal is to bring together teams of all backgrounds to forge social connections between established and new Canadians through the power of sport. The finalists of the July 29th tournament will play during the Ottawa Fury game against Toronto F.C. on July 29th.

One dedicated Woodroffe High School teacher has put together two teams composed of students from Syria, the Congo, Somalia, and Afghanistan. “These kids are the most resilient and generous human beings that I have ever met. They have had to overcome horrific circumstances, many of them have lost parents and family members along the way, to make the journey to Canada” (teacher, and team leader).

In previous years, Woodroffe High School has enrolled two teams in the Community Cup, however this year the school is unable to make a financial contribution.

The teams from Woodroffe are only two of the teams we would like to support going to the Community Kicks Tournament. We also have some amazing teams from the Catholic Centre for Immigrants, and other local non-profit organizations.

By helping us fundraise  the registration fee  of $350/team, you will be directly contributing to the successful integration of recent immigrants to the Ottawa area!!

Let's keep the ball rolling for another year, and get these young athletes out on the field!!
