Community Advice Services Association

To provide free legal advice, representation and support for those in the local community who are living with poverty. We advise and represent disabled benefit claimants to obtain, maintain or get back their just entitlement. The Initiative Factory/CASA was set-up in the aftermath of the Liverpool Dockworkers Dispute to uphold the aims and objectives of the ‘Sacked Liverpool Dockworkers’ in promoting ‘Fairness and Justice’ for all.
We were established as an Industrial and Provident Society in 1998 with the objectives of relieving poverty sickness and hardship and advancing education in Merseyside. In particular, the community work we do serves unemployed and socially excluded, both working and work-less, residents of Liverpool.
At the moment we receive no funding for this vital service.  Community Advice Services Association(CASA) is a not for profit organisation. All funding we may receive is reinvested  in the CASA to continue to provide an essential service for the local community.|
The Community Advice Services Association (CASA) was set-up to support and address the concerns of a large number of people & groups who use the CASA (The Dockers Building), who have constantly raised the issue of the lack of basic advice in the fields of welfare rights, training projects and further education and a real sense of despair & frustration that opportunities are being lost.
From Monday 23rd August 2004, a Welfare Rights Caseworker based at the Casa has been available to anyone seeking advice on:
Claiming a Benefit
Help with filling in forms
Advice on Disability Benefits
Checking you are receiving the correct amounts
You would like to check you are receiving all your entitlements
Home visits for people with mobility problems
Representation at Social Security Tribunals, Disability Appeals, Housing, Appeals and appeals to the Social Security Upper Tribunal.
Pension Advice: on-site expert advice is given by experienced fund trustees and advisers
Over the last 5 years we have raised over £5 million benefit income for the local community in Employment Support, Personal Independence Payment(PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance (AA)and Industrial Injuries  Benefits
During the same time we have assisted hundreds of employees to remain in employment or obtain compensation for unfair dismissal,  unlawful discrimination e.g. Pregnancy/Matrnity Discrimination, Sex Discrimination and Disability Discrimination.
We have helped disabled people to remain in employment or start employment sourcing a DWP Project of "Access to Work"
We also offer Debt Advice from experienced advocates. If you are worried about debt. Don't suffer in silence, email: [email redacted]
The CASA is in desperate need of an injection of funding if we are to continue with providing support to some of the most deprived communities in the United Kingdom.

We need help from experienced individuals to make successful bids  to the National Lottery, Lotto and trust funds for not for profit organisations like the Community Advice Services  Association (The CASA)
