It is with a heavy heart we are very saddened to announce the passing of Baby Mackenzie on 2/22/2017. She went peacefully and is now our angel. We will keep this go fund me open to continue to help the Thomas family with mounting medical bills. Thank you all for your never ending support.

This is a GoFundMe for Heather and Joey Thomas to help with their medical bills and expenses for their daughter, Mackenzie.

Most of Mackenzie's life has been spent drawing blood, changing formulas, doing CT scans, ultrasounds, MRI's, X-rays, and a spinal tap. Now, with genetics involved and biopsies ordered, they are preparing the family for the worst possible outcome. A rare genetic disease is suspected.

It was a long and tiresome journey to get Mackenzie here. They have gone through hormone injections, and miscarriages, but still, on September 12, 2016, Mackenzie Rae was born via emergency C-section and she brought more light and joy to this world that day then we could ever have imagined.

We are not sure when Mackenzie will be able to go home but when she does she will need intense physical and speech therapy daily. As of right now her prognosis with her growth means she will be leaving the hospital with a feeding tube in her stomach in order to give her the proper amount of nutrition she will need to thrive.

Heather and Joey are some of the most loving and deserving people we know. They have done nothing but selflessly put their lives on hold to care for and be with their baby. We have watched our friends go from happy, excited new parents, to tired and broken.

So on behalf of Heather and Joey and little baby Mack, We are asking for anything you can give to help this family through this time and make their future a little bit easier, and keep it a little bit brighter.

We wish we knew why instead of celebrating milestones at home, they are watching Mackenzie live her life in a hospital bed. The good things, though few and far between these days, still exist. This little girl lights up each and every one of our lives.

We thank God for blessing us all with Mackenzie Rae Thomas.

After being discharged from TCH and spending two days at home, we are now back and on our 81st day in the hospital. Mackenzie was too healthy for a liver transplant but it didn't take long for her health to decline. We're back in Texas and currently undergoing evaluations with multiple medical teams in hopes of being approved and listed for a new liver. This process is very overwhelming. All the teams will get together and vote and then it'll be presented to a higher board and if approved it will go back to the insurance company for approval and then she can be placed on the transplant list. Our doctor told us the average wait time here at TCH is 4-6 months. Some children are allowed to go home while they wait but Miss Mackenzie hasn't been able to be stabilized for long periods of time, so we probably won't get that option. We have been asked if we are going to move to Texas in order to be close to the hospital for her pre and post treatments. Obviously, we would do anything for Mackenzie but the thought of packing up our lives and quitting our jobs is terrifying. Our hearts continue to break as sometimes we have good days and sometimes we have bad. On behalf of Mackenzie and out family, we want to say thank you for everyone's continued support, near or far.

Thank you everyone for all you have given to help baby Mackenzie. The best gifts are not the ones you receive but the ones you give. What seems so small to you is big to the one who receives. One day we will tell Mackenzie all about the people who loved on her and prayed for her, those who stood in the gap for her parents. God bless you all for your generosity, prayers and most of all for the love of a little girl. Mackenzie Rae Thomas
