Fundraising Appeal by the Colton Area Museum and Historical Society. We are a 501 (C)(3) non-profit local museum housed in the 1908 Carnegie Library in the City of Colton, California. In 1984, under the leadership of Hazel Olson, the Colton Area Museum Association was formed. In December 1991 the building was officially opened as the Colton Area Museum.

Our funding request supports facilities, programs, events and other museum improvement projects. Some of projects and museum immediate goals include:

• "Taste of Colton" a fun and exciting event celebrating the 4th Annual Museum Day at the Colton Area Museum and Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The event takes place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We invite you/your organization for an opportunity to sponsor this event.

• Museum event programming and lectures

• Capital Improvement Plans for 1908 Building (paint, minor interior improvements to lecture room and research room)

• School District Programming - Storytelling and
Historical Lectures/Tours

• Office supplies and computer hardware/software
Museum display planning efforts

• Historical Preservation Program - Funding for purchasing historical plaques for older homes and commercial structures and other places that are of historical significance to the City of Colton. Includes creating a tour program of the historical landmarks of the City of Colton.

• South Colton Display - Growing up in South Colton: An Oral History of Mexican Americans in South Colton 1890-1960. Project funded by California State University San Bernardino Dean of Library Services Cesar Caballero and Cal Humanities - Project Managers: Dr. Tom Rivera, Frank Acosta, Henry Vasquez and Michael Gomez
