UPDATE!!

‘COLOURED SPAGHETTI’ – A Children's TV Show that will change the way we think.......... BECAUSE EVERYONE DESERVES TO BE SEEN ON TV.

If you have been following the Coloured Spaghetti story on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/colouredspaghetti/  you will know that we have come a long way since the beginning of this campaign! We raised enough  money ($4500) to pay for 10 episodes to go to air on Foxtel's 'The Couch' and not only was this a wonderful learning experience, but the feedback we received was INCREDIBLE ! This has prompted me to take the next giant step in creating an amazing pilot show that we can market to media.

We have everything ready to go – cast, presenter, character presenter, costumes, resources, location, set, make-up artist, original theme song, original backing music, detailed running sheets, and script. All we need now is a creative and talented technical crew who can take care of filming, sound, lighting and editing. Filming will take place on a country property 50 mins north of Perth and inside the historic farmhouse. We are on the hunt now, and look forward to meeting and working with this special team.

Our pilot will cost another $5000 to produce. YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS INVALUABLE.

Please share with your friends and help us make this happen. Be part of something amazing :-)

(Original Campaign)

‘COLOURED SPAGHETTI’ – A Children's TV Show that will change the way we think.

Over the last few months, many of you will have heard me talk about this exciting project. The project is now at the stage where it needs financial support from people who feel as passionate as I do, in order to make it happen. Please, please read on.

The aim of this project is to present a children’s TV show, where children with special needs and disabilities are represented as a ‘normal’ part of our society, alongside their neurotypical / able bodied peers. A TV show that is age appropriate, entertaining, engaging, informational, educational and fun; with music, singing, storytelling, art, craft, dancing, physio and sensory but with the involvement and support of children with a range of needs, abilities and ages.

The objective is to bring a true reflection of society into every day homes via television and internet broadcast. It is to reinforce to the parents of the hundreds of thousands of children with special needs in Australia that their families are valued and included in Australia’s society, as much as any other. I want children to grow up knowing about Autism, Cerebral Palsy, intellectual disability, and all the other incredible individual characteristics that make our children who they are. I want more than, for them to be tolerant of others with special needs – I want them to learn how to engage, interact and communicate with them – and to be patient, unafraid and kind with their differences.

The show will be targeted at an audience of all people who are interested in ‘spending time’ with their children and will teach them how important it is and how easy and cost free it can be. With activities appealing to children of all ages and abilities and with the presentation of a diverse group of children, I hope that the subconscious minds of viewers will be filled with inclusion, acceptance and knowledge.

I am working with a well known locally Perth WA based, community TV (not for profit) production company called ‘The Couch’. The magazine style series goes to air every Sunday night on the Foxtel channel ‘Aurora’ (with 4 repeats during the week) and all episodes can be reviewed on YouTube or their Facebook page.

The Couch production company (not for profit) charges $450 per seven minute segment for a minimum booking of ten episodes. I am therefore seeking to raise  AUS $4500 to cover production costs and a further $2000 to cover additional expenses for this project (there are many!). Any surpless money will be held in an account for future segments. All purchases and expenditures will be accounted for.

There will be no financial gain to myself as a result of this project. My reward will be the production of a family TV show where families of children with special needs and disabilities are represented and valued. The positive impact this show will have on them will be reward enough in itself.

My long term goal is to use this series of ten segments as a pilot to show and impress television production companies in Australia in the hope that I can take it nationwide. Any extra money raised will go towards achieving this long term goal.

About Me.

I have lived in Australia with my husband for 20 years now, raising a family of four beautiful children - 3 boys and a girl. Now they are all teenagers, I have been able to extend some of my focus to other goals and ambitions.

I am a primary school teacher (B.Ed Hons) with over 20 years’ experience in both England and Australia. Twelve years ago, I entered into the incredible, exciting and rewarding world of Special Needs Education (Graduate Certificate of Special Education).

I cannot tell you how much I believe in this project and the feedback I have had so far has been overwhelmingly positive. I believe it can be extremely successful – and bring purpose, meaning and value to all those involved.  Nothing would make me happier than for you to be on board.

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about this project and for your consideration in supporting it.

Kindest Regards,
Michelle Varley.
