About This Project
"Expanding our world through film. Empowering our filmmakers."
ColorReel is the latest project currently under development from Black Tygress Media. Developed and dedicated to empowering filmmakers in underrepresented ethnic, cultural, and social groups, this transformative streaming platform provides an opportunity for artists to distribute their films to a broader and under-served audience, and for contentious film lovers to finally spend dollars in a marketplace that supports such films, and the artists who create them.
With the recent focus on the lack of diversity both in front of and behind the camera, a media outlet like ColorReel makes sense, and is long overdue. It will offer a place where subscribers can view independent films that mainstream distributors and networks would generally overlook, while providing a source of income for grassroots filmmakers, and allowing them to maintain control of their work.
While our current team of founders, filmmakers, and future-subscribers have contributed significant investment, inspiration, perspiration to this project, Black Tygress Media is currently in search of a lead investor for the ColorReel platform.
Social Impact
There is a great need for more diversity in the film industry. Often filmmakers from underrepresented groups lack the resources or support to hone their craft with little opportunity to earn any sort of income from their work. In addition, the dearth of diversity in stories presented in mainstream media leaves many people feeling misunderstood or ignored in the global conversation. ColorReel will provide a platform where subscribers can view diverse films at a reasonable price $5/mo and, for every subscription, 50% to 60% goes back to the filmmakers as direct income or grant funding for future projects.
Fundraising Goal: $10,000
Financial Breakdown
To complete software development for film platform: $5000
Online hosting for the films for 1 year: $2000
To add accessibility capabilities to the platform (e.g. closed captions): $2000
Campaign costs and fees: $1000
Stretch goal: If we can meet and surpass our initial goal, we would like to raise an additional $5,000 to $10, 000 to market and grow the platform globally, collaborating with film festivals and organizations worldwide to build ColorReel into a platform that has a tangible global impact.
Other Actions:

Pre-subscriptions will be available once the ColorReel platform is up for beta testing. We will keep you updated on when pre-subscriptions begin.
