Color Blind No More

Glendale, Oregon is a special town, the people are as special. Our troupe of performers decided to make this little "Brigadoon," our oasis about three years ago. Amidst the conflict of beauty and poverty, is one gentleman who reaches out to all, Rex Morningstar III. His family is welcoming, involved and loving to all they encounter and there are many Morningstar's in the little town in the hills. All of them seem to have many of the same traits.
Rex was asked to participate in a play with the town kids and he volunteered to also paint the sets...it was discovered that his talent was exceptional, but a flaw emerged that he was almost embarrassed to admit to. He is color blind.
We know this is common, but Rex is a pastor, and gives what little he has to help others, and rarely spends the kind of money needed for the "color-blind" glasses that have recently been invented on himself. The play we were doing was color itself, even in the words of the music, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." He accidentally painted a set the wrong color and had to confess. Afterwards we were casually chatting and he said "I'd give my right arm to see color for just a day."
I was literally taken aback. It never occurred to me that an artist, who sculpts, draws, paints, and builds could do so without seeing color. His work is fantastic, and he is always doing it for others. The cast and crew decided we would start this fund for him to be able to see color. How else do you thank an artist who has a heart for so many others?
We hope other's will want to take part in the joy of helping this person who creates so that others might "see". The color of both gratefulness and the beauty of the world can be imagined in the world of art from one who will see color for the first time through this gift. I want that imagining to become a reality, please help me.
