Colony Cove is a 55+ Mobile Home Community in Ellenton, Manatee County Florida. Our community consists of about 2,500 senior citizen residents who are mostly uninsured for damage caused by Irma. As seniors we do not have cash reserves as most live week to week. Everything we own is in our homes that have been either destroyed & at best severely damaged & some are uninhabitable. Most homes are 40+ years old but they are our homes! Many folks are very elderly as well handicapped & many are sick or infirm. Our community is pet/dog  friendly so a great majority of residents have 2 pets that were affected as well. Our home is the only asset most of us have & need whatever help you can find in your heart. This fund will help residents repair & rebuild based on need.

Thank you for any help you can give!

We are about ten days post Hurricane Irma & we have some great news in that we have a $20,000 matching funds guarantee from ELS the corporation that owns the land in our community! For every dollar that is donated to our campaign they will match it! It is estimated that about 33% of the mobile homes have sustained some damage. We have a few homes that might be total losses but hundreds that are lost roofs or attached car ports & lainais. Sadly most people do not have insurance & FEMA doesn't make us whole again. We promise that 100% of donations will fund our HOA's Helping Hands fund to benefit the residents in need. We thank everyone for their donations whether a little or a lot - every dollar can help someone who needs it!

Many of us evacuated & are returning to see the damages in our community from Hurricane Irma. We are a close knit community and we are helping each other in every way that we can. Donations have been received from within our community & some from other folks who just want to help. We are happy to have survived the largest Atlantic hurricane on record but sadly many homes sustained damage. Your donation will help as many people in need as possible. Thank you in advance for your help!
Damage to homes range from totally destroyed to loss of roofs, car ports & lanais.

Many thanks to the folks that have already donated! I was one of the fortunate people who only had minor damage but a few others had complete losses but more had roof, carport & lanai losses. Even small damage can be beyond the financial means of some residents. We will make every effort to help as many residents in need as we can!
