What started as a sprained ankle for Colin Nelson in November of 2018 quickly became more serious.  After continued difficulty and pain, Colin was then diagnosed with Severs Disease – which is inflammation of a growth plate, but it eventually went away.  Colin continued to have pain in his heel - unable to walk, wear a shoe, etc.  Through various doctor visits and sleepless, painful days and nights, it was eventually discovered that Colin was suffering from Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), also called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome, is a chronic pain condition in which high levels of nerve impulses are sent to an affected site.  Experts believe that CRPS occurs as a result of dysfunction in the central or peripheral nervous systems. CRPS is most common in high achieving individuals.

After several months of intense and constant pain, doctor visits, failed medications and five days per week of physical therapy sessions, the Nelsons took Colin to Boston Children’s Hospital to see if he qualifies for a program that has the potential to manage his pain and the syndrome.  Fortunately, he was accepted!  This program is absolutely necessary for him to get the relief he so desperately needs and it’s also very expensive. On top of the medical bills, Colin and his family will also have to fund living expenses to be in a 4-5 week intensive rehabilitation program.

We can help this family in this great time of need by giving just a little so they can heal their son!  We’d ask you say a prayer for Colin to have courage and comfort and for Bree, Patrick and Hollis (and close family members) to have strength and perseverance. If you feel led to donate that would also be very much appreciated!

We will continue to give updates on Colin’s progress as we know more!  Thank you in advance for anything you can give.
