Hi, everyone. I am raising money for treatment for my foster dog, Copper. He really needs a Christmas miracle. His kidney disease is progressing and he is eating less and less. At 6 years old, he deserves to have years left not just weeks. Please consider donating what you can to help us establish treatment for this little dog that so badly wants to keep living.
Some of you might know that I am on the Board for Our English Setter Rescue (OESR), a breed-specific dog rescue dedicated to saving English Setters. We were alerted in mid-October about a setter that was posted as “free” on Facebook classifieds in Michigan. That setter was Copper. He was living with transients on a commune with no running water. When we got him to the vet, it became immediately clear he was a very sick dog. Advanced heartworm and kidney disease. After a week at the vet office, he was gaining weight and feeling perky and he came to live with Rooney and I. Despite all of his health issues, and being underweight, he wasn’t acting sick. He wanted to run and play and snuggle. The specialists I brought him to were shocked he had as much energy as he did. However, the disease is catching up with him. He is now barely eating, very dehydrated, and losing weight. He badly needs fluid therapy and treatment in order to stabilize him and give him a shot. The rescue is subsidizing his care, but we have already spent more than $2500 in the last month. He has a long road ahead but deserves to feel better. Please support his treatment if you can.
