Coffee and Compassion at The Nest

A Little Compassion Inc., (ALC) has been busy since becoming a nonprofit in 2018. We’ve been hosting board game, art, trivia nights and more for young adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities. But the big news is that his spring we finally built a home of our own – The Nest Coffee House where "understanding starts here" is our mantra.
The Nest Coffee House is more than just a coffee house: it now nourishes the community with fresh-brewed specialty coffee and beverages, good eats, ice cream and kindness while creating employment and social opportunities for young adults who deserve a chance to shine. It is a place where all can gather and have their uniqueness celebrated in the community. Currently only 20% of individuals with disabilities ages 16 and up are employed – at The Nest Coffee House we will change that statistic, one young adult at a time, and open doors to futures full of hope and opportunity. Thus far The Nest has already hired 12 individuals whose abilities and confidence are growing stronger. Additionally The Nest has brought on 8 student interns whose special needs are accommodated as they gain real work skills. And we've only just begun!
Your contribution to The Nest Coffee House will make a real difference, allowing us to hire more young adults, create our mentoring program, and launch an effort to change the way our communities see young adults with disabilities. We will also grow our social gatherings and employment programs for the young adults with disabilities in our midst. The Nest is a purposeful space that ensures that young adults with disabilities have every opportunity to succeed as valued, vital, and active members of our community. Lastly we will foster full inclusion of young adults with disabilities in all that our communities have to offer.
But it gets even better: The Steve Little Foundation has generously offered to match every donation (up to $20,000) to provide even more of the funds needed to create The Nest Coffee House - where understanding and acceptance starts. Because of this match your Donation Will be Doubled and will Double the Support of Our Mission!
