My son Cody Dunford was hit by a car in the back Saturday night and is still in Intensive Care on a ventilator at this time. He has severe damage and he is now paralyzed from the waist down. Medicaid will only cover his hospital stay. He will need spinal therapy and alot of care before he will be able to help himself in a wheel chair the rest of his life. He lives in Reno Nv and I in Phoenix AZ which makes this even more difficult as we will need medical assistance to transfer him to another state which is also not covered.
My son is only 27 years old and has a new 9 month old baby named Brodie. These events will of course dramaticlly alter many plans for his future but we have hope that with good medical care and therapy and Gods hand that miracles can happen? Of course it will take some time to get rehabilitaed where he can live a normal life on his own. Much red tape and a very timely process to get assistance for his needs which will help sometime down the road we hope?
I am not one to ask for assistance but in the case it is out of my hands and I can not financially bear this burden to assist him with what he needs to get better. My work will grant FMLA to hold my job but how do you pay your normal bills with no money while being in another state caring for your child? How can you leave your child at this crucial time in his life? You can't!
I feel Cody must have positive loving support from his family with him once he is coherant and ready to leave the hospital as well as now but the crucial part of course will be his mind set of having to adapt to a different way of living permanently. We must keep his mind and body strong and be here with him thru his recovery so he will want to have the will to live a long life.
I ask all of my friends and family and anyone who can give if you may donate anything you are able to so I can support my child thru this very tramatic time in his life.
I will only use your donations on my sons recovery and medical needs that are a must to suceed.
