We learned about Coco via a text message – a tiny 8 year old yorkie was at the animal hospital, critically injured and in need of emergency surgery after being attacked by another animal in his home. His family could not afford the surgery and care needed, and his outlook was dismal. We knew very few details, but we agreed to help give Coco a chance at life after his family surrendered him.
Coco has a fractured jaw and fractured leg, but the most urgent medical emergency was an abdominal hernia. RBARI rushed him into emergency surgery at Oradell Animal Hospital. The cost for emergency surgery and intensive care over the first 24 hours was $5,000 alone.
Coco next needs to see an orthopedist for his broken leg. He likely will need orthopedic surgery. Coco needs to have a feeding tube inserted while specialists determine the best way to fix his broken jaw, which is compounded by severe dental disease. Coco may need a consult with a veterinary dentist to fix his jaw due to the severe damage and tiny size of his jaw.
We can’t save Coco without your help. Despite the incredible pain that Coco was in, he remained sweet and stoic. Coco is strong, and he is fighting to live. He deserves that gift from us. Overall, we are looking at $15,000 for Coco’s multiple surgeries and emergency care, and this does not take into account follow up care. He is a special boy that found his way to us, and we need you to help us give him a fighting chance!
