For the last 4 years, the c/o chamber orchestra has been exploring making orchestral music together, without a conductor, collaborating with musicians such as Alban Gerhardt and Nils Landgren, Francisco López-Martín and Cornelia Gartemann. For our 5th anniversary season, we are setting out on exciting new adventure:

The Divertimento Project

Orchestras mean symphonies - grand works for large forces, whether Beethoven or Mahler. As a chamber orchestra, we are drawn to the smaller, the stranger, the less-well traveled, and in the Divertimento we find exactly that: miniature worlds that are by no means limited to the light and frivolous nature their titles suggest.

We are setting out to explore all those worlds, and to find out if we can even agree on what a Divertimento is, anyway! From string orchestra to wind decet to full orchestra, we will be recording Divertimenti and Divertissements by Mozart, Bartók, Ibert, Emile Bernard and a world premiere recording by the young American composer Michael Ippolito, specifically composed for the c/o chamber orchestra.

But to make this happen, we need your help! Your donations will allow us to spend two weeks in Berlin, rehearsing and recording in the world-famous Jesus-Christus-Kirche, home to some of the most recognizable recordings of the Berlin Philharmonic and others.  Beyond the unique musicians of c/o, we will be working with first rate artists in recording, Christian Feldgen (http://www.schalloran.de/frame.htm); video, Adrian Le Gall( https://vimeo.com/adrienlegall); and design, Raban Ruddigkeit ( http://www.brousseruddigkeit.com/).

Your support will help us finance:

- Music Rental and Licensing Fees
- Studio Fees
- Recording Engineer and Sound Editing
- Instrument Rental
- Video Recording and Editing
- Editing
- CD Design and Production Costs
- Distribution

and more...

In other words, you will make this journey possible.  We could not be more thankful for your support, and look forward to having you join us as we discover the Divertimento together!

The campaign will run over the Summer of 2018, wrapping up on September 1st. The final product should be ready to be released by the end of 2018.

As an "eingetragener Verein" in Germany, we are also able to issue a "Spendenbescheinigung" for any donations made from a German address. Please be sure to get in touch with us (info@co-chamberorchestra.com) to arrange the details.

Unfortunately our non-profit status makes it a little difficult to offer CDs or other physical objects as direct rewards for donating, but do not worry. We'll be organizing different raffles and events during the course of our fundraising drive, and all donors will have the first peak at the finished product. And last but not least, any donations over 100 Euro will be named in our booklet as sponsors!
