On January 11, 2018, Kipp Nash had brain surgery to remove a tumour.
It was a surprise to all of us, and the diagnosis to operation was a short window of time.

Kipp is expected to be home a few days after surgery, and will be in a state of recovery for a few months.
All indications so far say that the tumour was benign and once removed, should not spread or recur.
The recovery time is estimated to be about 3 months, and in that time Kipp will not be able to work, lift, exercise, or do anything that raises blood pressure or heart rate.

The financial impact on the family of Kipp not being able to work is significant.
Funds raised will go towards supporting the family during the time that Kipp is recovering.
Funds will also be used for Kipp to get treatments to aid in the recovery process.

It's unknown at this time what other support Kipp and the family will need.

It's with Kipp and Kate's blessing that this request for support has gone out. And they are humbled and grateful for the kindness offered by their friends and community.

Kipp had his third surgery on Thursday.
This time he had a craniotomy, where they open the scalp, remove a piece of skull, go in through the side of the head, and through the brain to the site of the tumour.
Kipp is rocking a sweet looking horseshoe scar on his head, with 25-30 staples holding it all together.

We're optimistic here in the coach Kipp camp. They were able to get more of the tumour, and remove the part which was pressing on the optic nerve.
It's a little early for Kipp to tell if all of the symptoms are gone, but he's already experiencing some clearer vision, which is promising.

Kipp will be headed home in the next couple of days, and getting ready for a 4 month (ish) recovery.
This more recent surgery is much harder on the body, as it affects the brain more intensely as they go through it to get to the tumour site.

Again, Kipp and the family are so grateful for the support they have received in the community.
It's a long hard road for them, which is much more bearable with the community's contributions and offers to help.

I just talked to Kipp. He is in Victoria, still in the hospital after surgery number 2 yesterday.
They were able to remove some of the tumour, but they didn't get it all.
"It's a sticky tumour" says the surgeon.
Kipp will have to go back in 2-3 weeks to have another surgery through the side of his head, through his skull.
The recovery time is longer after the next surgery so he will be off work longer, and need more time laying low.
We've raised the fundraising goal, now that we know he'll take longer to recover, and the impact will be greater on the family.
Kipp is still having symptoms- photosensitivity, headaches, blind spots... and the 2 surgeries have only removed about 30% of the tumour. The surgeon is optimistic that the next surgery will provide better access and a better angle to remove the area that is affecting the optic nerve.

Thank you once again to everyone who donated. It's amazing to see the support, and the Nash family is very grateful.
I'll be withdrawing the funds today on their behalf and passing it all on to the family... as they ready to go for the second round of surgery.
Hopefully they get the whole tumour, and that this is the last time he has to go in and under.

Kipp is at home. Happy to be cuddling his puppies and eating good food again.
He’s resting up and getting ready for surgery part 2 this coming Thursday.
They only got 25% the first time so hopefully it all comes out this time.

Kipp and family are happily overwhelmed by the support for the community, and say thank you, thank you, thank you for the donations and offers of kindness.
