Coach Ken Headley

Several weeks ago, Coach Ken Headley began experiencing severe headaches, elevated blood pressure, and difficulty using his left arm and hand. A trip to the ER revealed a tumor in the right frontal side of his brain, and he had surgery on May 22. His surgical team was able to remove almost all visible signs of the tumor, and Coach Ken has been steadily recovering, but he has a very long road of cancer treatments ahead of him. He will start a six-week regimen of daily oral chemo and radiation very soon, followed by additional treatments.

Coach Ken is one of the kindest, most helpful, and well-regarded people in the Birmingham-area and Alabama soccer community. His players and colleagues love him for the genuine person he is. To honor him and help pay his ongoing medical costs that are not covered by insurance, we have established this GoFundMe fundraiser.

Coach Ken and his wife, Lynn, are currently covered under COBRA as Lynn’s position with a financial institution was eliminated in April. Bills for Ken’s medical bills are starting to arrive, and are mounting.  The co-pays and cost of follow-up chemo drugs, radiation treatments, and medical tests are wild cards.  Any funds you can contribute to help Coach Ken and his family during this stressful time will be greatly appreciated.
