Meet Nicole, a sassy three year old with a smile that could melt the coldest heart. The girl who loves unconditionally and dances through even the toughest of times. A baby who defied the odds and accomplished all of the things the doctors said she may never do.

On December 26, 2012 Nicole came in to this world born a twin and child to a mother who was unable to care for her. Family quickly stepped up and took her sister home. Unfortunately, Nicole was not as healthy and would need a lot of additional care.

Born with a giant omphalocele (gastric organs on the outside of her body), Nicole required a wound vacuum, tracheostomy and gtube to survive. Her hospital stay lasted eighteen long months until the perfect opportunity came along.

A PICU nurse, Amber, met Nicole when she was just a few months old. As her primary nurse, the two developed a very special bond.

From the time Amber was a child, she knew she wanted two things. To become a nurse and to be called mommy one day. Little did she know that achieving one dream would help her to fulfil the other.

Amber started nursing school when she was just sixteen. After graduating high school, she began working full time in the hospital and has continued to do so simultaneously while working on her degrees. Amber is currently working towards a doctorate to become a nurse practitioner.

She met her husband, Taylor, in 2011. Their love quickly blossomed and they married in May 2013. With the thought of kids in the back of both of their minds and the relationship that Amber and Nicole shared, the two took steps to become foster parents. They brought Nicole home just a few days after their first wedding anniversary.

Since birth, Nicole has had thirteen major surgeries and has two more on the horizon. With every surgery comes high risk, pain, tears and many complications. But Amber is able to provide something for her that most cannot. Round the clock in home care with the added love of a natural and stable home environment.

On February 24, 2016 Nicole was adopted. Amber and Taylor officially introduced her to the world as their daughter but they were her mommy and daddy long before the legal papers were ever processed.

Now their goal is to do the same for other medical needs children. In the recent months, they began to foster a second child with similar sever medical needs. They want to provide a happy home to those kids who often times don't have the opportunity to experience a normal life.

So now comes the part where you can help my sister achieve her dream of making a difference in these kid’s lives. She currently drives a compact SUV that her small family has already outgrown. Because of this, Taylor and Amber are limited in opening up their home to more special needs foster children.

As a full-time student and medically fragile care giver, Amber and Taylor have realized that this is their true passion and calling. Amber has had to step out of the hospital setting and now concentrates on care taking at home. Because of this, affording a secondary car payment is nearly impossible.

To you and I a vehicle may just be a nice to have and it is not right to ask for help to buy one in every situation. However, the purchase of this vehicle will aid the Boyd’s in providing care for more foster kids to come.

It is okay if you can't donate, a share is worth it's weight in gold. Please help us to spread this story!
