Jayden's Journey

Howdy! 

March 6, 2019: Ashley and Jayden’s lives were changed forever! Jayden was complaining of a knee injury from basketball, but the X-ray at CareNow showed something different. Being referred to an oncology specialist the next day, they went in and came out with a cancer diagnosis, Osteosarcoma! This meant many changes, Jayden was to start chemo therapy right away, he could no longer go to school, and Ashley (who is a single mother and teacher) had to take time off. They were told treatment would be about a year long. 


March 16, 2019: Chemo began. 


May 24, 2019: Surgery options were given. During week 10 of Jayden treatment plan he received new scans. The chemo was working, but the cancer in his leg needed to be removed. Two options: reconstruction or amputation. Weighing the pros and cons of both of these decisions, Ashley and Jayden went with the amputation. This is a apart of their journey they never saw coming. 


June 4, 2019: Amputation Surgery. You can prepare yourself, but it isn’t real until it happens! Jayden lost his right leg through the knee, but he did not let it take his spirit! Jayden will have weeks of physical therapy without his prosthetic and then several weeks of physical therapy with his prosthetic! Jayden being the strong and courageous little guy that he is has been up, walking around, trying to keep his strength and motion. ALL WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE!!! 

No mother and child should have to go through so many life changing moments in such a short time and have to worry financially. Please help share Jayden’s Journey and contribute in anyway possible. God has his hands on this little boy and he is going to do big things!
