Michelle's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Early last week, our dear friend, Michelle was diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal cancer - a rare type of cancer that affects a very small percentage of the population. She was admitted to St. Anthony's hospital, in St. Pete, Florida,  on June 7, and has spent the days since surrounded by an incredible group of supportive friends and family who continue to be amazing advocates for her care.

Michelle's symptoms began just a few weeks ago, but progressed quickly. After consulting with her primary care physician, she underwent a CT scan hoping it would reveal the cause of her abdominal pain and bloating. The CT scan did show some abnormalities, but additional testing was required which took her to St. Anthony's. We received official word that cancer cells were present in her abdomen on June 12, and surgery was performed the same day to remove as much of the cancer as possible.

Doctors were pleased with the outcome of the surgery, and to no one's surprise Michelle was an absolute Rockstar from pre-op, through the entirety of the 4-hour surgery, into post-op and recovery. We look forward to getting her back on her feet as soon as possible so she can take the next step in her treatment plan, which will involve chemotherapy.

As we begin to digest this news and plan for Michelle's continued care, we have decided to create a GoFundMe page on her behalf as an outlet for friends near and far to connect and contribute should they feel called to do so. As you can imagine, the emotional shock of a cancer diagnosis and so many uncertainties are only compounded by the financial stress.

First and foremost, your love, prayers and emotional support will be the family's lifeline in the months to come. The outpouring of support already has been such a blessing and provided great comfort to Michelle and her family.

Michelle's beautiful, kind and caring spirit for others has touched so many people in so many ways over her 56 years on God’s earth. As a nurse she has spent her life caring for others, and now it’s time we care for her.

We hope that we can raise $25,000 to help defray some of the medical costs and and household expenses while she is unable to work, easing the family's financial burden, and allowing her to focus on beating cancer!

We believe that God is bigger than the cancer that has impacted her, and everything is possible through Him. So, Michelle will fight, and we will fight with her. Thank you for being in our corner!
