Climbing Sugar Hill

On a cold Toronto morning and 5,000 miles away from home Nathaniel abruptly went blind. He called out for help, and due to the kindness of strangers he was taken to a nearby hospital.  Doctors struggled for weeks to balance his wildly fluctuating blood sugar.  Though his sight returned, life would never be the same for Nathaniel. This disease tore thru his family like a plague, 3 brothers, both parents, a nephew and 14 cousins fell victim, and this time it was himself.

The battle waged on… sometimes winning, often losing yet within Nathaniel a passion burned to take action. It was as if the Gods had sent him a message marked personal, and he is sending back his reply with “Climbing Sugar Hill”.

This unique one-man show uses drama to illustrate his own struggles, mistakes and victories. Revealing the ugly realities of this monster yet instilling hope and encouragement not only to those prone to diabetes but the entire community. There is a desperate need for more understanding of the ravages of this pandemic.

$15,000 needed to develop and launch a one man show “Climbing Sugar hill” To be performed in schools, theatres, inter-denominational houses of worship, community centers, lecture halls, etc. Let's make a difference together, the clock is ticking.
