Clean Water for South Sudan - CEDASS

Tax deductible

Clean Water for South Sudan

CEDASS started an NGO in South Sudan in 2006. What began as a farming and economic assistance project has since developed into a 4,500 acre farming community, a school with over 400 students, and a medical clinic (watch our 2018 documentary  to learn the back story). This community has a major problem; there is no access to clean water. We have a Clean Water project plan in motion and we are 47% of the way there($90,000), but we still need $100,000  to make it happen. With this GoFundMe  campaign, we really believe we can raise the funds necessary to provide access to clean water for this community.

To begin, we will start by installing 6KMs of 4 inch pipeline under the soil. This pipeline will run from our existing mainline which we use for our Farming Project to draw water from the Nile River and move it 5KMs to the fields. The clean water pipeline will travel to six different filling stations spread out evenly within the community. This will greatly reduce the distance women and girls are travelling  to collect water and will reduce hygiene-related diseases  and waterborne diseases  drastically almost immediately after installation.

The Clean Water Pipeline will pass through a Water Filtration Container , which will treat the water and make it 100% drinkable for all. The initial cost of the Water Filtration Container and the installation of the pipeline is substantial at nearly $106,000. Once these upfront expenses are covered, the cost to run and filter the pipeline is $25,000 per year. If we hit our mark of $100,000 with this campaign we will have the funding we need to get the materials into South Sudan, install the pipeline, and sustain water filtration for 4 years. After 4 years it will become self sufficient through the commercial farming project within the community.

We are Canadians who call ourselves the Canadian Economic Development Assistance for South Sudan, or CEDASS  for short, and we are determined to create sustainable change within the community of Jebel Lado. We have been here since 2006 and we will see this through.
