Clean up Duck Lake Rd.

Hello Highland !

My name is Amanda LaFord and I am a resident of Highland Township. I live on Duck Lake Rd. Right at the end of the dirt road, close to the round-about located at White lake & Duck lake rd.
For a while now our community has witnessed this terrible sight on Duck Lake Rd.
Unfortunately, this spot has been used as a local dump for many years. As the years keep going by, it seems as though the amount of junk dumped here keeps adding up and getting much worse. There is a mattress that has been folded up and left here in the weeds since the summer of 2015. This is used as a stray kitty home :(


As most of you know, this is a private dirt road but it is never used as such. Since I live on this road, I drive down it daily, and every day that I do, I can't help but feel sadness.
I also work in the area as a local realtor, and I show a lot of future residents homes around town.
I constantly brag up our small town, tell them why I think this is a great spot to live and raise a family.
I am proud to be from Highland, I love our community.
But this HAS to be taken care of!!
I am guilty of driving down this road every day, getting mad about the fact people keep dumping here, complain, and yet I never do anything about it.
So that ends today!!
I know that I am not the only resident in this community that feels a sense of hurt while going down this dirt road.
That is why I have taken it upon myself to start a go fund me page to try and help raise money for a dumpster.
I will have the dumpster parked at my home, which is conveniently located at the end of this part of duck lake road. My Boyfriend and myself will gather a group to do the honors of hauling the trash into the dumpster, but any volunteers would be highly appreciated as well.
We are hoping to do this before the snow hits, and it gets cold. So the sooner the better! Let's not have this go by yet another year.
So to all of my fellow Highlanders... Please, let's work together to finally take care of this! Anything will help.

I know this is just a temporary fix, and doing this will not stop people from just continuing to dump here, but at least this gets the stuff that is there now cleaned up. 

Who knows, maybe new trash dumpers will not think this is a good spot to dump something, because there will not be any existing trash..... I dont know, but it is good to think positively ;)
Be proud of our community and pitch in to get this cleaned up.
