The education of our youth and the public education system in the United States, in Tennessee, and in the Memphis community, is in a harrowing state.
It is becoming increasingly difficult for many of our youth to achieve academic success due to challenges, such as neighborhood school closures, overwhelming demands placed on teachers in the classroom, low economic status, and frustrations with the lack of accessible resources in the community. Confidence and morale are low among many economically disadvantaged youth, leading to low graduation rates, poor life choices, and a growing sense of helplessness. Without a sound education and intensive support, they are vulnerable targets to a lifetime of poverty and crime.
The Center for Learning and Academic Support Services, Inc. (CLASS) is a non-profit organization in Memphis, TN that is on a mission to empower students to become self-confident, independent learners by providing quality academic support to underperforming and economically disadvantaged youth. CLASS believes that with the proper academic and community support, our youth can develop the educational and professional skills to positively affect our local communities and our country.
Our goal is to serve 50 students this school year, so we ask that you join us to help raise $42,000. We value every donation, so rest assured that we are responsible with your gift. These funds will be used to cover the cost of tutor sessions, learning supplies, and transportation services. Your support will provide a strong start for CLASS and lay the groundwork for building otherwise unattainable educational opportunities in our community for the youth of today and tomorrow.
