CK Speech & Debate 2016 Nationals

This year the members of the Speech and Debate Team at Christ the King High School in Middle Village have been challenging themselves to be their best every week!  Over the past two months the hard work has been paying off in a big way, with 8 students qualifying for the National Finals in Sacramento, California over the Memorial Day weekend.  That's the great news....Now for the bad news: If the students are not able to raise some finances, their goal of attending the National Finals may still be out of reach.

The students attending are made up of a diverse group of kids, all but one have never been able to qualify for the National Finals in the past.  Krystle and Donatto are seniors, Laura is a junior, Christian, Sarah, and Daymien are sophomores, and Stephany & Emily are freshmen.  The categories they compete in are all different, some in Speech, some in Debate, and one in Student Congress.  Each student has a different reason as to why this experience is so important to them, but the one thing that they are all trying to prove is that hard work and dedication will pay off!

Your donation can help make this happen!  Every dollar brings us closer to allowing these students to experience a once in a lifetime adventure.  In addition to the airfare, hotel, and other transportation expenses for the students, we also need to be able to supply judges and chaperones with a way to get there.  This opportunity will be remembered by the kids as either one of the greatest learning experiences of their lives, or as one of their greatest disappointments if they get this close but still can't attend!
