CJE - Artist Residency for Veterans

Spende geschützt

Dear Friends,

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who helped contribute to our first phase of the Charles J. Evered House…  because of you, we were able to accomplish our initial fundraising goal — enabling us to make the down payment ON THE HOUSE!
We have now started the next phase of our campaign to raise additional funds for ongoing operational expenses including mortgage payment, property maintainence, program development and expenses, plus the renovations needed to welcome our first veteran artists. These include furniture, converting the garage into an art studio, new flooring, paint and much more.

The "CJE House" will be an artist residency specifically for artists who are military veterans
and individuals who serve in conflict zones, such as war reporters, combat photographers, etc.

The property is located in the renowned artistic area of Joshua Tree in Southern California's beautiful Hi-Desert region, close to one of the largest military bases in the USA.

The CJE House will host artists of all kinds—screenwriters, playwrights, TV writers, fiction writers, poets, non-fiction writers, you name it.  Also, musicians and composers, from classical performers to rock and roll thrashers.  We also welcome applications from fine artists, commercial artists and photographers.

The "CJE House" is a new program division of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center and has already brought together an impressive group of successful artists and supporters (Mentor Board) that have agreed to work with the residents in their chosen field — should they request such guidance.  Under the Hi-Desert Cultural Center (a fully compliant non-profit 501(c)(3) powerhouse in the region), the Mentor Board has among its ranks best-selling authors, Emmy, Tony and other major award-winning working artists and arts related professionals that are willing to volunteer their time to mentor our veterans. Our notable group of mentors include Liev Schrieber, Luke Perry, Bebe Neuwirth, Diane Paulus, Hal Linden, Austin Pendleton and many more.

We hope to welcome our first full-time resident in October of 2018 after renovations are completed. Each residency will last for a period of about 30 days. Their stay will take place during the months of October, January and March, the most temperate and most beautiful times of the year in the hi-desert.

Would you PLEASE consider donating to our program?
