Thank you for electing me Bernie delegate from Nevada congressional district 2 to the Democratic national convention in Philadelphia this July! This is a great honor and commitment that I take dearly to heart, and I’m asking your help fundraising to represent your interest as stalwart Bernie supporters from Nevada.
As you may know, I was one of the core group of original grassroots organizers in Washoe County for Bernie starting last August and hired as the first staff in northern Nevada for Bernie in October. I’m now volunteering again for our wonderful Senator Sanders as he continues his campaign to lead our revolution of social justice and real American equality for us all.
You may know that staffers work long hours for low pay per hour, seven days a week. I was thrilled to be hired to work for Bernie after full-time volunteer work the two months prior, but this kind of job definitely ate into the budget. Since the campaign left northern Nevada at the end of February, after taking a month off, for so many hours each week I’ve been volunteering for Bernie’s campaign and the Berniecrat Rick Shepherd for Congress’s campaign and preparing for and attending the state and now national conventions that cash flow is tight and I’ve yet to find a new job with all this campaign work.
So if you can help by contributing to this expensive representation of your fight for Bernie to win the presidential nomination at the Democratic national convention, that would be wonderful! The hotel costs $500 a night plus tax and fees for five nights (Sunday, July 24-Thursday, July 28). Airfare costs about $500. I estimate expenses (food and miscellaneous) to run about $500 for the six days total for this trip. All told, I’m looking at about $3,750 for this convention. Any amount you can help is appreciated, so I am asking you to contribute to help me fight for our voices for Bernie and Bernie’s ideals to be heard, respected, and victorious at the convention.
