Civil War group needs cannon

We are the Chicago Light Artillery. Battery A and for over fifty years we have been encouraging remembrance of the Civil War and the sacrifices made by soldiers of that era and also those who served in subsequent wars. We do this by engaging in reenactments, marching in parades, participating in memorial services for our veterans and sponsoring free educational events.

For these events, we were fortunate to have the use of an authentic 170 year old cannon. We are now being asked to return the cannon since the group that owns it has a new home for it.

We are making a request for funds to replace the original cannon with a replica. This will enable us to return to the field so we can continue our job of bringing history alive.
