Ciara Nelson's fight
I'm not giving up and I will do everything that I can to get her the best treatment I can, I'm asking for help to achieve this, to save Ciara's life. Currently we are endeavouring to take Ciara to Sydney to see Charles Teo the worlds most renowned neurosurgeon and investigating other options that could potentially save her, such as Gamma knife surgery which is $27000 approximately in Sydney, proton therapy in the US and Cyberknife surgery as well as alternative medications. None of these will be possible without some help due to the high costs involved with specialists, travel etc
For me it's hard to ask for help but as I don't have private health insurance and some of these options are very costly. I can't put a value on Ciara's life.
Any money raised that it is not used for Ciara's treatment will be donated to support other families who are have children with brain tumours.
We have been offered radiation and chemo as the alternative but with only a 40% chance of success and a very high risk of radiation causing acute hydrocephalus we have chosen the surgery to give Ciara a fighting chance against this very rare tumour.
I know this is a difficult time of year to ask for help but we are about 30 thousand short of getting
her the surgery to save her life.
We only have a 2 month window to get Ciara operated on before the tumour grows more making the surgery even more risky than it already is.
We are shattered that it has come to this and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your support.
After many rejections from everyone we have contacted in order to help Ciara we finally received word from Proffesor Charles Teo and he believes he can help Ciara. We are off to see him next Tuesday.
Finally a glimmer of hope
Colleen ( Ciara's mum)
There is a public (free) Gamma Knife Clinic at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane - the only one of its kind in the entire country. I know because I have a brain tumour as well. Patients are assessed on an urgency basis. I had an appointment for treatment within a month, however more urgent cases may be seen more quickly https://metrosouth.health.qld.gov.au/princess-alexandra-hospital/gamma-knife. Wishing you all the absolute best of luck.
Dear Ciara, When I was diagnosed with Cancer many years ago, I looked at cyberknife however this was not the kind of treatment available to my condition. I don't know if it is worth discussing this with your spcialists and I hope this helps. http://www.cyberknife.com/cyberknife-treatments/brain/index.aspx All the very best to you Ciara and your family and believe that miracles do happen. We have had a few in our family and I pray you receive one too xox ♥.
Hi Ciara, I was diagnosed 10 years ago with a brain tumour, and after little interest in operating here in Melbourne, I went to see Charlie Teo. It was expensive, but I got my superannuation to pay for it, since it was a life threatening event. You might want to try that way for funding.
Many people are not aware that back salve can draw up a tumour, even from the brain, even from a deep inner area...Black salve does NOT touch healthy cells at all...It only touches abnormal cancerous cells...The salve can be placed on the head, above where a tumour is sitting...It will draw the tumour up to the surface of the head...Forms an eschar, then falls off...On the head, it is relatively painfree...It is applied, then 24 hours later can be washed off...This is a form of treatment for a brain tumour that is not well known...But it is something to consider...I removed something from the back of my head, occipital lobe area...I used Zenith herbals black salve...(they have a facebook group)...Afterwards I took Albenza at 20 mg per kilogram of body weight, for 10 days...Cancer is a parasite, so antiparasitics work...
Ciara keep fighting young lady. Stay positive and strong. My 12 year old nephew was operated by Teo at 7 years of age, and now he is well. One of my best friends from Devon Meadows twice was only given 3months by Monash Medical and told nothing could be done for him. He too went to Teo and had a life saving operation on his tumour. You can beat this, stay strong and believe in Dr. Teo Dennis, Jan & Mary TDNFC
I would love to know how Ciara is going???? I hope all is wellxx
This such wonderful news for you Ciara. I am so sure that Dr Charles Teo will look after you as he is 1 in a million. My prayers for good luck and a speedy recovery is going out to you. Stay strong always.
That is awesome news Colleen I have everything crossed for your beautiful daughter. Love Kazz
Dear Ciara and family Best of luck in March sending you lots of love and prayers ❤ Sandi & family xo
