These students are trying to make an impact; for their school, their peers, their families, and their community. New Mexico ranks poorly in virtually every measure related to personal finance, and very little is being done about that. We want to spark a change.
We are planning to launch a Personal Finance focused online media outlet, created by young New Mexicans, for young New Mexicans.
Our first task is to create content, which we are already doing. We are writing articles, designing graphics, and editing videos that will engage and inform others about topics such as Budgeting, Account Management, Credit Cards, Student Loans, etc.
Soon, we will create a website. This will be the center of our project where we will publish the materials we have created and share them with our community.
We will promote and market our efforts. We will promote within our community with handouts, flyers, and posters. We will present and network at school and local events. We will partner with local banks and financial institutions. And of course, we will use social media to reach as many people as we can.
Lastly, we will build the foundation to be handed off to future students to expand. This is not a one-time effort, this is the start of something bigger. This is the ground floor.
To get this going, we will need some start-up capital. These funds will purchase:
- a domain name
- web-hosting costs
- print media costs
- project supplies/materials
- other expenses
Any funds not immediately used will be held for future costs and expansion of our product and our reach. But every penny will go towards a better education for our students and our community.
We are happy to have contributions from individuals, but we also want Local Banks, Financial Institutions, and any other Organizations to join us in this venture, and help us build a better Santa Fe and a better New Mexico.
