Christopher the Brave

As some of you may know, Christopher was diagnosed at the 20 week ultrasound with a rare heart defect Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAs (5 heart abnormalities). We traveled back and forth to Children's hospital of Philadelphia every few weeks to monitor his heart and growth. On October 30th, we relocated to ensure the safe birth of our son.

Christopher was born on November 7th and we have yet to come home. He is currently in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. He has had quite the hard life so far. His heart defect is preventing his body from having enough oxygen. His stomach and other organs are not functioning properly. At two weeks Christopher had his first cardiac catheterization, which did not go well. After the procedure they found a blood clot, his heart rate sat in the 200s, and oxygen levels dip into the 30s.

Now at three weeks of age, he faces his first open chest heart surgery. Followed by another open heart surgery in 3-6 months and even more in the future.
