Christmas Blessing Boxes

Our goal is to put together boxes/bags of goodies and hand them out to those less fortunate in the greater Sacramento area. We are planning on handing out our "Blessing Boxes" likely a day before or after Christmas. A lot of great things come in boxes... wine, bento, Jack... so we figured why not add another to that list this Christmas!?

The original $500 "goal" was met in just two days, so we increased it to $800, but it's just a number and if we fall short or exceed this number, there will still be some grateful people.

Depending on how much we can raise (hoping to budget $30-$50 per box), we would like to include some of the following common/affordable items from WalMart, Target, Costco, Dollar Stores, etc.: 

- oral hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc)
- hair comb
- deodorant 
- snacks (candy bar, trail mix, chips)
- sweatshirt, socks, mittens, beanie, etc (thrift stores and Costco carry these fairly cheap) 
- pillow, blanket
- reusable waterbottle
- lottery scratcher :)
- Open to other suggestions as well!

This is my first time attempting this or anything like it, so I really have no expectations or goals. A few friends and family members had already planned to put together some boxes on our own but figured any extra cash that we raise, is just another box we can fill and another person we can help out.

This is not a part of any larger organization, just a few people trying to make a memorable Christmas for someone else. I understand that a lot of people already donate more than enough during the holidays, so please do not feel obligated.
