Let's Help Christine, she needs it!

Hello everyone! It takes a lot for me to ask and I wouldn't if it wasn't important .. but it is. Our friend Christine Gallagher needs our help. Many of you know Christine from the "Boat House" in Lambertville and others from the years that she has been in the Lambertville/New Hope area. Christine is an amazing woman. She has always been there for others, whether it was a friendly ear that would listen to you and your problems or a person who would remember your birthday, your favorite book/artist or your drink of choice. She has always been very private and you would never know that she had problems of her own. She is not one to burden others with her problems but yet always willing to hear or help with ours.

So just this weekend it came as a surprise that Christine reached out through Facebook for "advice." This must have been terribly difficult for her to do because Christine has NEVER asked for help. Here is her post:

"Looking for good advice. Putting my pride aside, asking for help. I moved into a one bedroom apartment in Doylestown a little over a year ago. My health problems, Multiple Sclerosis, diagnosed several years ago, have kept me from being able to work at all. I was hoping to be on Social Security Disability by now, however I was denied benefits. Have filed an appeal to SSI, have been told by SSI that appeal will not be heard until September 2018. I do not have a pension fund. I may have to give up my apartment. Does anyone have a room I can rent? I hope to be able to keep my dog Winston with me. I do not drink, smoke, am quiet and boring.

Any advice on getting any help would be very much appreciated. Please treat this request as sincerely as I posted it. Asking for help has never been something I am good at. Love you all. I appreciate all advice and suggestions, thank you from my heart.

Love, Christine Gallagher

Just adding on, I do not qualify for public assistance, maybe some food stamps. Last year I did receive some disability/unemployment from New Jersey, but that ended a year ago and I am not eligible to get any more benefits. I am 58 years old and do not qualify for help offered to seniors, 62 and older.

I have made so many phone calls. If you know of any organizations which might help me get through the next year, please share with me."

It is my hope that we can all help Christine stay in her home with her little guy Winston. Our hope is to raise $15,000  to bridge the gap until Christine's Social Security Disability issue is resolved.

Any help that you can provide would be gratefully appreciated. Please know the money is not tax deductible but considered a "gift" to Christine. She deserves this gift. Thank you in advance for your kindness.
